Senior Cost Estimator
As an expert in your area, you will provide critical knowledge and guidance to our cost estimating team to ensure adherence to recommended cost estimating best practices. Duties will include project management, cost estimating, and business development. Mentoring of junior staff will also be expected.
The majority of your time will be spent on cost estimating and project leadership. That being said, your experience in your field will invaluable in the development and direction of our company and we encourage your contribution to business development.
- A Technical Designation or Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Information Management, Business Management or Computer Science from a recognized institution.
- A similar combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Cost Estimating for a wide array of project sizes and types
- Project management
- Third Party estimate review/audits
- Support with ENGCOMP's Risk Analysis projects
- Mentorship of junior staff
- Company marketing & client relations
- Recommend and acquire resources for best practices in the field
Qualifications and Skills
This position requires demonstrated strength of leadership and proven time management capabilities. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) are essential. Your technical knowledge of the mining sector and proficiency with computer programs, particularly Microsoft Office, and any cost estimating software or databases will round out your qualifications for this position.
Key Knowledge and Experience
A minimum of 8 years of experience in cost estimating is mandatory. A minimum of 4 years experience working in the consulting engineering field with experience in construction, design, project management, and business development is also an asset. Experience with procurement or purchasing functions would also valuable.
Experience in organizing and interpreting information provided by clients, producing material and drawing takeoffs, applying quantitative values, and performing data analysis is necessary. Heavy industrial experience would be an asset, especially in the mining sector. Engineering software experience and willingness to learn will also be an asset.
