Intermediate Structural Engineer

Job Summary

Your main duties will be structural design engineering. You will be expected to demonstrate leadership and innovation in executing your work. You will be able to tackle a problem independently with supervisory input from lead engineers and provide mentorship to more junior personnel.

Education Requirements

  1. Bachelor of Science in Civil (Structural) Engineering from a recognized institution.


  1. Structural engineering and design.
  2. Project leadership.
  3. Guidance for technologists and designers.
  4. Liaise with clients, vendors, manufacturers and other disciplines.

Qualifications and Skills

This position requires demonstrated strength of leadership and proven time management capabilities. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) are essential. Your technical knowledge of the Mining Sector and your technical design expertise in structural steel and concrete will round out your qualifications for this position. A solid understanding of computers and MS Office software is necessary, including proficiency in Excel. Experience with other software, such as MathCAD, AutoCAD and 3D structural analysis modeling software will be an asset. It will also be an asset if you have experience leading a small team and/or small projects.

Key Knowledge and Experience

A minimum of 4 years of experience in structural design and engineering are required. Experience working in the consulting field, especially in the mining sector and, more specifically, potash mining, would be considered an asset. Site experience and heavy industrial exposure would also be an asset for this position.


We have normal hours of business and every employee will need to work a minimum of 40 hours per week excluding personal time needs (vacation, sick, bereavement, banked time, etc.). In consulting there are always busier times and slower times. When things get busy there will be a requirement to work overtime so that we can get the job done and meet our client’s needs.
